We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Prof. Dr. Nail Bezel, who was a faculty member of METU and of our Department from 1978 to 1997.

Prof. Dr. Nail Bezel taught, influenced and inspired countless students including many of the active faculty members of our Department today. In addition to being an outstanding professor and literary scholar, Prof. Bezel was a prolific poet, translator, and nature-lover.

Our thoughts in this sad time are with his family, his colleagues, and his students, who will sorely miss his inspiring guidance and valuable friendship.

May he rest in peace.
