Language Studies Track (Ph.D. in ELT)

Language Studies track aims to provide students with a firm theoretical and analytical knowledge about language acquisition, language processing and production procedures, structures of languages, language competence and social, cognitive and cultural aspects of language.

Note that equivalence is subject to the approval of the ELT graduate programs coordinator. Newly admitted PhD students need to take ELT 506, ELT 554 and ELT 555 before taking any 600-level courses.

Notes:   

  1. Students are expected to select their PhD dissertation advisor by the end of their 2nd term (before they start their 3rd term) in the programme.
  2. On completion of the program courses, PhD students are required to sit their Written and Oral PhD Comprehensive Exams in either May or November (dates are announced annually) before they are allowed to start their dissertation work.
