We are very sad to hear of the passing of Prof. Dr. Kurt Wolf König, who was a faculty member from 1994 to 2013 and the Chair of our department from 2000-2012.

Prof. Dr. Kurt Wolf König taught, guided, and influenced countless students in our German and English programs, and some of our active faculty members today were lucky to be his students in the past. Prof. König was a distinguished professor in theoretical linguistics and a very kind and constructive administrator. He will also be remembered for his impressive Turkish, good sense of humor, and love of classical music.

Our thoughts in this sad time are with his family, colleagues, and students, who will sorely miss his inspiring guidance and good friendship.
